This meant he had to stay away from his family for the first time, as his dad drove him to Mohali where the camp was held.

In 2022, Uday was a backup player for the Under-19 World Cup in the West Indies but didn't get a chance to play. He realized that he needed to enhance his cricket skills after coming back. Despite reaching home at 11 pm, he was eager to start practicing again at 6 am the next day. Later in the same year, Uday led the Indian team in the ACC Under-19 Asia Cup and they made it to the semifinals. Due to his impressive performances, scoring 297 runs in 5 matches with an average of 99, Uday was appointed as the captain of the Under-19 Indian cricket team.
On 2nd February 2024, Uday had a great performance during the semifinals match against Nepal. He scored an impressive 100 runs from 107 balls, hitting 9 boundaries along the way. Uday and his teammate Sachin Dhas also made history by achieving a record-breaking partnership of 215 runs in just 202 balls. Moving on to the semifinals match against South Africa on 7th February, Uday continued his strong performance by scoring 81 runs from 124 balls, including an impressive 6 sixes.
