Uday Pratap Saharan was born on 8 December 2004 in Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan. He pursued a Bachelor of Commerce (B. Com) degree at the Central University of Punjab, Bathinda. His father, Dr. Pratap Saharan, is an Ayurvedic doctor who has played a vital role in nurturing Uday's love for cricket. His mother, though not mentioned by name, is described as Uday's pillar of strength and a constant source of love and support. Uday's grandfather, Dr. Fakirchand Shukla, is a retired professor and well-known author who expresses immense pride in Uday's accomplishments.

Uday's father had a cricket coaching place where he took Uday to practice. He even created a space at home for Uday to play cricket and learn the game. Despite the extremely cold winters in Sri Ganganagar, with temperatures dropping to 1 degree, Uday never missed his practice sessions. With his father's support and encouragement, Uday, who was only 11 years old, decided to move from Sri Ganganagar to Fazilka in search of better opportunities in the field of cricket.

Uday played cricket for both the under-14 and under-16 teams in his hometown. However, he decided to move to Bathinda to join a more advanced under-19 team. The cricket facilities provided by the Punjab Cricket Association in Bathinda were excellent and Uday hoped they would help him improve his skills. To make it easier for Uday, his dad would drive him to Bathinda every day for practice. After a year of hard work, Uday was selected for the Punjab under-14 team camp. This meant he had to stay away from his family for the first time, as his dad drove him to Mohali where the camp was held.
