Jiya Shankar, born in 1995 in Mumbai. Her mother, Surekha Gavli works as a hairstylist. Jiya's parents separated when she was 13. Though she started with a digital marketing course, she eventually attended Anupam Kher's Actor Prepares in Mumbai to pursue her passion.
Jiya Shankar began her acting career in the 2013 Telugu film 'Entha Andanga Unnave' as 'Jiya,' and later appeared in 2018 as 'Vaishnavi' in the romantic comedy 'Hyderabad Love Story.' Fans of Manisha Rani and YouTuber Abhishek Malhan, known as 'Abhisha', shared a fabricated WhatsApp conversation suggesting that Jia had hired Indian photographer Viral Bhayani to spread negative stories about Manisha. Jia refuted these allegations on X, stating on 18 August 2023 that they were unfounded and false.
