Radhika Merchant is a 29 year old who is engaged to Anant Ambani, the youngest son of Mukesh and Nita Ambani. She was born in 1994 in Kutch, Gujarat, and grew up in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Radhika completed her schooling at The Cathedral and John Connon School, École Mondiale World School, and BD Somani International School in Mumbai. She then pursued her higher education in politics and economics at New York University before returning to India to work as a sales professional in the real estate industry.
Radhika Merchant is a member of a Gujarati Hindu family. Her father, Viren Merchant, holds the position of CEO at Encore Healthcare and also serves as a director in several other companies. Her mother is Shaila Merchant, and she has a younger sister named Anjali Merchant.
Radhika is a trained classical dancer in Bharatanatyam. She has height of 5 feet 4 inches. She studied under Guru Bhavan Thakar at Mumbai's Shree Nibha Arts Dance Academy for eight years. Nita and Mukesh Ambani hosted an Arangetram for Radhika, which is a traditional stage debut ceremony for classical dancers marking the completion of their training at the Grand Theatre in Mumbai’s Jio World Centre on June 5, 2023.
Lavish Pre-wedding Ceremony
The Ambani family, including Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant, organized a large pre-wedding party in Jamnagar, Gujarat from 1st to 3rd March, 2024. Prior to the celebrations, they participated in an 'anna seva' at Jogwad village, near Reliance Township, where they served traditional Gujarati meals to around 51,000 local residents.
Prominent figures in the business world such as Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Sundar Pichai, and other influential individuals were in attendance at the pre-wedding ceremony. The guest list also included notable names like Bob Iger, Gautam Adani, Natarajan Chandrasekaran, Kumar Mangalam Birla, Rishad Premji, and Adar Poonawalla.
Many prominent Bollywood celebrities such as Amitabh Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan, Amir Khan, and Salman Khan, along with their families, attended the pre-wedding ceremony. Other stars like Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgan, Saif Ali Khan, and Ranveer Singh were also present with their respective partners. The event was graced by the presence of power couples like Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, Aditya and Rani Chopra, as well as Anil Kapoor and his family.
On March 3, 2024, Anant and Radhika had their Hastakshar Ceremony to mark their union. Radhika's speech from her pre-wedding event gained popularity online when people noticed its similarity to a line from the movie 'Shall We Dance?' (2004).
