The State Selection Board, acting on behalf of the Higher Education Department of the Government of Odisha, has made an official announcement regarding the recruitment of Lecturers for Non-Government Aided Colleges in Odisha. This recruitment drive is aiming to fill 786 vacancies in different subjects such as Anthropology, Chemistry, Commerce, English, and Physics. The application process is set to begin online on 20th March 2024 and will end on 19th April 2024.

Educational Qualifications


To be eligible for PGT positions in most subjects, candidates must have a Master's degree with at least 50% marks and a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree. However, for positions in Commerce, Education, Geology, Home Science, Logic & Philosophy, Psychology, Sociology, IRPM, Telugu & Urdu, a B.Ed. degree is not mandatory.

Age Limit


The age limit for candidates applying is between 21 and 42 years as of January 1, 2024. There are relaxations in the upper age limit for certain groups: 5 years for SC, ST, SEBC, Women, and Ex-Servicemen, 10 years for PwD candidates with a disability of at least 40%, and up to a maximum age limit of 55 years for candidates with 10 years of continuous service in Government or Aided Colleges.

SSB Odisha Lecturer 2024 Selection Process


There are three phases of selection process, Career Assessment, Written Examination and Viva-Voce Test.

During the career assessment phase, candidates are evaluated based on their academic and research accomplishments, including qualifications like Ph.D., M.Phil., J.R.F., and NET.

In the written examination, candidates are tested on the subject concerned through a two-hour test consisting of 100 multiple-choice questions based on the syllabus provided on the official website. To be considered for shortlisting, candidates need to achieve a minimum passing score in the written exam. General candidates must score at least 40%, while ST/SC/SEBC/PwD candidates must secure a minimum of 30%.

The Viva-Voce test holds significant weight in the overall selection process as it carries 25 marks towards determining the candidate's suitability for the role.
