Kolkata Police Recruitment 2024 Important Dates
The Kolkata Police has announced the recruitment for Constable and Lady Constable posts which is available at www.prb.wb.gov.in/www.wbpolice.gov.in/ and www.kolkatapolice.gov.in. The online application process is open from March 1st to March 29th, 2024. Candidates can submit their applications on the official websites mentioned in the notification. Exam dates will be announced later.

West Bengal Police Constable Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must have successfully completed the Madhyamik Examination from the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education or an equivalent qualification.
Fluency in reading, writing and speaking Bengali is required for effective communication in the workplace, with exceptions for permanent residents of hill sub-divisions of Darjeeling and Kalimpong Districts.
Age Limit
To apply for the posts, individuals must be at least 18 years old by January 1, 2024, and not older than 30 years old by that same date. However, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes candidates can have their upper age limit relaxed by 5 years while Other Backward Classes-A and Other Backward Classes-B candidates can have their upper age limit relaxed by 3 years, Third Gender/Transgender Persons, and Civic Volunteers who may have their upper age limit relaxed by either 3 or 5 years.
West Bengal Police Constable Application Fee
To apply for the Kolkata Police Constable Recruitment 2024, candidates need to pay an application fee. Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe applicants from West Bengal only have to pay a processing fee of Rs. 20. For all other categories from West Bengal, the total fee is Rs. 170 which includes an application fee of Rs. 150 and a processing fee of Rs. 20.
Kolkata Police Constable 2024 Selection Process
The West Bengal Police Recruitment Board have decided on a selection process consisting of five stages:
Written Examination: Used as a screening tool to determine which candidates will move on to the next phase of the selection process. The marks obtained in this exam will not be used in the final merit list. The examination consists of 100 objective-type questions with 1 mark for each correct answer and a negative marking of 1/4th mark for each incorrect answer.
Physical Measurement Test (PMT): candidates will undergo a Physical Measurement Test (PMT) to assess their height, weight, and chest size (for males only).
Physical Efficiency Test: Involves a running event. Those who pass both the PMT and PET will then be invited to take the Final Written Examination administered by WBPRB.
Final Written Examination: This exam will consist of 85 objective-type questions, with one mark awarded for each correct answer and a negative marking of 1/4th for incorrect answers. Qualifying marks will be set by the board for candidates to progress to the next stage of selection.
Interview: Candidates will undergo an interview. The merit list of provisionally selected candidates will be determined by their marks in the Final Written Examination and Interview. Additionally, candidates' proficiency in speaking Bengali will be assessed during the interview.
Kolkata Police Constable 2024 Exam Pattern
The Constable Exam Pattern for the Preliminary Test consists of 100 multiple-choice questions to be completed in 1 hour. The test includes sections on General Awareness and General Knowledge, Elementary Mathematics, and Reasoning. Each correct answer carries 1 mark, but for every wrong answer, 1/4th of a mark will be deducted.
Salary
The Kolkata Police Department offers an attractive monthly gross salary of Rs. 26605 to selected candidates for the Constable and Lady Constable positions. This includes a basic pay of Rs. 23700, dearness allowance of Rs. 681, house rent allowance of Rs. 2724, and medical allowance of Rs. 500. The total monthly gross salary also includes other allowances and perks as mentioned in the notification pdf.
