Madras High Court Recruitment Eligibility Criteria


Candidates who wish to apply online for Madras High Court Recruitment must ensure that they meet the educational requirements for the position.

Examiner, Reader, Senior Bailiff, Junior Bailiff/ Process Server, Process Writer: Candidates must have passed the S.S.L.C. Public Examination or its equivalent with eligibility for admission to Higher Secondary Courses of Studies or to College Courses of Studies.

Xerox Operator: Candidates must have passed S.S.L.C. Public Examination or its equivalent with eligibility for admission to Higher Secondary Courses of Studies or to College Courses of Studies with practical experience for a period of not less than 6 months in the operation of Xerox machine.

Driver: Candidates must have passed VIII standard AND Must possess a valid Driving License for driving Motor Vehicle issued by a competent authority under the Motor Vehicles Act with a practical experience of driving motor vehicle for a period of not less than five years.

Copyist Attender, Office Assistant: Candidates must have passed VIII Standard or its equivalent on the date of notification. Also, must be able to ride a bicycle.

Cleanliness worker/Scavenger, Gardener, Watchman / Nightwatchman, Nightwatchman – Masalchi, Watchman – Masalchi, Sweeper – Masalchi, Waterman / Waterwoman, Masalchi: Candidates must be able to read and write Tamil.

Age Limit


To be eligible to apply online for the Madras High Court Vacancy 2024, candidates must be at least 18 years old as of July 1, 2024.

The maximum age limit varies based on the category: Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Castes (Arunthathiyars), Scheduled Tribes, and Destitute Widows of all castes have a maximum age of 37 years if born on or before July 1, 1987.

Most Backward Classes/Denotified Communities, Backward Classes (Other than Backward Class Muslims), and Backward Class Muslims have a maximum age of 34 years if born on or before July 1, 1990.

For Others/Unreserved Categories, the maximum age is 32 years if born on or before July 1, 1992.

Application Fee


Those belonging to the State of Tamil Nadu are eligible for fee exemption. The application fee is Rs. 500 for Backward Classes (Other than Backward Class Muslims), Backward Class Muslims, Most Backward Classes, Denotified Communities, and Others. Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Castes (Arunthathiyars), and Scheduled Tribes are exempt from the fee. Differently Abled Persons and Destitute Widows of all communities are also exempt from the fee.

Selection Process


In order to choose candidates for various positions such as Office Assistant, Examiner, Reader, Senior Bailiff, and others, a selection process will be conducted. This process will include an Objective Type written exam, Skill Test, and Viva-voce exam. The final selection will be based on the combined marks obtained by the candidates in all three components of the selection process.

Madras High Court Exam Pattern 2024


The written examination will have two parts, Part A and Part B. Part A will cover topics from General Tamil (Tamil Eligibility Test) while Part B will focus on General knowledge. The exam will consist of objective-type questions, with Part A being in Tamil language and Part B in bilingual format (English and Tamil).

Part B in the Madras High Court written exam will be only evaluated, they must first secure a minimum qualifying mark of 20 (40%) in Part A. The minimum qualifying marks for both Part A and Part B are 20, which is equivalent to 40%.
